Wishlist FAQ

If there are any questions not answered below, please feel free to forward us an email.

  • What is the SOC Wish List or SOC Registry?

The SOC Wish List or SOC Registry is your very own website and URL, where you keep a list of the gifts that you would like to receive from family and friends, in honor of any occasion.

When family and friends visit your SOC Wish List, they will be able to select any item (or items) that you have listed and 'Gift' you the money instantly, so you can purchase that particular item yourself. It saves time for your family and friends and helps them get you the perfect gift.

  • What does the SOC Wish List cost?

The SOC Wish List is FREE with your subscription to any of the following SOC Exchange portals: Auctions + Buy Now, Careers, Auto & Real Estate.

  • So when an item on my wish list is 'Gifted' the money is deposited, instead of me actually receiving the item?

    Yes.

When you list items on your SOC Wish List you will include the cost of that item, you may also want to tell family and friends what that particular item means to you.

Any person can now 'Gift' you the money for that item and you can go and purchase that item yourself. It is the perfect gift!

  • Can people 'Part Gift' an item?

    Yes.

Any of your items can have a 'contribution or part-payment' deposited toward them and the balance will then be listed so someone else can also contribute to that item.

  • How are 'Gifts' deposited and withdrawn?

Gifts are deposited directly into your PayPal or Google Checkout accounts.

The SOC Exchange DOES NOT take any fees or charges from 'Gift' deposits.

  • PayPal and Google Checkout Charges?

There will be PayPal or Google Checkout Charges, depending upon the payment platform you select to accept 'Gift' deposits. These charges are standard around the globe.

  • I understand that the person giving the 'Gift' has the option of paying the PayPal or Google Checkout charges, is that right?

    Yes.

This is a fantastic option that can be used by the person making the 'Gift'. At the time of depositing the 'Gift' amount into either your PayPal or Google Checkout accounts, the charges are automatically calculated and can be included in the deposit amount.

So, when the person receiving the 'Gift' withdraws the money, the charges are already paid and the full amount can be withdrawn.

  • Are there any limits to the amount of items I can list?

    No.

There are no restrictions or limits. You can list as many items as you like!

  • Is my wish list password protected?

    Yes.

Your wish list is password protected and can only be viewed by those whom have your assigned password.

  • Is The SOC Wish List safe and secure?

    Yes.

We have SSL Encryption and the latest anti-virus and security features. We have total confidence in our security systems.

  • How will I know when someone has 'Gifted' me an item from my wish list?

When an item has been gifted or part-gifted and the deposit has been successfully made, you will automatically receive a themed e-card (selected by the person giving the gift). The person 'Granting your Wish' will also receive a copy of the e-card.

(Due to the Google Checkout operating platform, an e-card will be forwarded to both parties once the 'Gift Now' button has been clicked.)

  • Do both of my SOC websites have their own URL?

You can go to either of your SOC Exchange websites directly from the world wide web!

  • When should I set up my SOC Wish List?

If you're holding a particular event like a birthday or wedding, you should have your SOC wish list setup before you send out your invitations.

If your wish list is set-up for college, or for the coming Christmas season, your wish list can be ready at your convenience.

It takes just minutes to set-up your wish list and forward email links to family and friends.

However, the more notice you can give people, the better! This will allow your family and friends enough time to browse your SOC Wish List website, deliberate about what they want to get you and then 'Gift' you the money.

  • How should I tell my friends about my SOC Wish List?

Letting everyone know about your SOC Wish List is as easy as entering the email addresses of your family and friends in the 'Wish List Admin.' and pressing "Send."

  • What type of gifts should I put on my SOC Wish List?

You can list absolutely anything on your SOC Wish List. However, here are a few tips to consider when selecting your wish list:

    • Take an inventory of the things you already have and then list the items you need.
    • Don’t be afraid to list any item that you may want. People don’t know unless you tell them.
    • You may decide to list fun outings, travel experiences, honeymoon and savings goals to your list.
    • Avoid listing items that you probably won't use.
    • Select gifts for different price ranges to suit varying budgets.
    • Feel free to add high value items, as visitors to your wish list may want to pool their resources for group gifts.
    • An idea may be to proportion the item count on your SOC Wish List by listing gifts on the basis of one gift per single attendee and one for each couple attending.
    • However, you may choose to list all the gifts that you would like and see what happens.
    • Remember, there is no hard and fast rule about wish lists. You decide what will best work for you.
    • You may decide to list sets of things separately: e.g. for a crockery set list separately the plates and bowls. On the other hand you may choose to list it as a set.
